WheelMates Release Date and Platform Status
Quick answer
The WheelMates release date is September 1, 2026. Firevolt launched it on Steam under AppID 3905450, and the only confirmed platform today is Windows 10/11 64-bit PC. PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2 versions are all in active console preparation for the first half of 2027, with the Switch 2 confirmation new in Firevolt's "What's Next for Wheelmates" Steam Community post on the Steam Community hub news feed (checked 2026-09-17). Xbox One, PlayStation 4, macOS, and Linux versions are not announced as of 2026-09-17, and no demo has been announced either. Steam is the only confirmed way to play today. ## What is the WheelMates release date? The Steam store page for AppID 3905450 lists the release date as September 1, 2026, with Firevolt credited as both developer and publisher. The verified X account @wheelmatesgame and the official wheelmatesgame.com hub carried the same launch date, and SteamDB's AppID snapshot matches it. There is no earlier WheelMates title, so the confirmed WheelMates release date refers to this Firevolt game and nothing else. The game left early access status entirely out of the picture: it shipped as a full release rather than a staged rollout, and the Steam Community hub began posting hotfixes on launch day itself. ## Where can I play WheelMates today? Steam for Windows is the only storefront and platform with a released build as of 2026-09-17. | Platform | Status as of 2026-09-17 | | --- | --- | | Windows 10/11 64-bit (Steam) | Available since September 1, 2026 | | PlayStation 5 | First half of 2027 (Firevolt "Q&A with the Devs", Aug 21, 2026 Steam Community) | | Xbox Series X\|S | First half of 2027 (Firevolt "Q&A with the Devs", Aug 21, 2026 Steam Community) | | Nintendo Switch | First half of 2027 (Firevolt "Q&A with the Devs", Aug 21, 2026 Steam Community) | | Nintendo Switch 2 | First half of 2027 (Firevolt "What's Next for Wheelmates", Sep 2026 Steam Community) | | Xbox One | Not announced as of 2026-09-17 | | PlayStation 4 | Not announced as of 2026-09-17 | | macOS and Linux | Not announced as of 2026-09-17 | Before you buy, check the [WheelMates PC system requirements](/system-requirements/) so you know whether your machine clears the minimum GTX 1060 / RX 580 line, and read [how WheelMates co-op and split screen work](/co-op/) if you plan to bring a friend along. ## Console release window per Firevolt's Aug 21, 2026 Q&A and Sep 2026 "What's Next" post Firevolt's "Q&A with the Devs" Steam Community post on August 21, 2026 is the first-party source for the first-half-of-2027 console window on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. The same post confirmed that the game is strictly 2-player co-op with no real solo mode, and third-party mirrors on updatemonitor.com, iscrossplay.com, and beta.gamespress.com (de) echo the same answer. Firevolt did not publish an exact release date, a price, or a console SKU page as of 2026-09-17. Firevolt's "What's Next for Wheelmates" Steam Community post, signed "— The WheelMates Team" and dated 12:16am on the Steam Community hub news feed (checked 2026-09-17), is the first-party source that adds Nintendo Switch 2 to the console preparation list alongside PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, with the same first-half-of-2027 framing. The post does not name Xbox One or PlayStation 4, so those two SKUs remain Not announced as of 2026-09-17. Until Firevolt posts an additional announcement or a console storefront page appears, treat console release dates or prices circulating in forum threads as unconfirmed. Pricing on Steam is covered on the [WheelMates price and editions page](/price-editions/). ## Forward look: new content for players who have finished the story Firevolt's "What's Next for Wheelmates" Steam Community post also teases a separate content pillar aimed at players who have already finished the story. The post describes the pillar but does not publish specific dates, features, or pricing; details are kept under wraps by the WheelMates Team as of 2026-09-17. Until Firevolt posts additional detail on the official Steam Community hub news feed, treat any third-party list of planned features as unconfirmed.
